Healthy Eating and Dieting: How to Avoid the Unavoidable Danger Zone

Posted by Health Wizard Wednesday, December 31, 2014 0 comments

they have

Healthy eating and dieting tips...To Keep the bad stuff off your lips

Just keeping unhealthy foods out of sight will dramatically reduce your consumption of them.

But sometimes you don't get a choice on how your environment is arranged - someone else has control of what's visible - they have a bowl of candy at their desk, or they have put a batch of cookies out on their kitchen table. So what do you do?

Dr. Phil was undone by temptation...So he avoided the whole situation

First, don't give up control that you do have. Sometimes you can choose an alternative route, and not pass the danger zone, and just make that a habit. Dr. Phil tells a story in which he changed the door he routinely used to go in to his house in order to avoid the danger of fresh baked cookies and similar temptations. If you can't avoid the kitchen, maybe there's a cover you can put over the cookies, or maybe you can move them to some place less conspicuous without getting busted.

But of course there are times and places where there's just nothing you can do to change the environment or to get the bad food out of your line of sight. What can you do then?

One trick is to set a goal - how many times you'll pass them up before you eat one. "I'm going to pass by here ten times before I eat a cookie." Then keep track each time you go by and if you haven't forgot all about it by the time you reach the goal, then you eat one of whatever it is.

If you find yourself making excuses to go by the temptation just to count it, don't worry about that. Just make sure that the number of trips is high. You might be willing to make ten trips for one cookie, but are you really going to make thirty trips to get three? If you lose count, don't stress about it. The idea is designed to distract you from that immediate craving and give you time for it to pass. Plus you get the reinforcement that you can control yourself each time you go by.

Healthy Eating and Dieting

diet recipes

If there is one thing that upsets nutritionists, physicians, and health experts about dieting it is the fact that many people actually stop their normal and healthy eating habits in order to drop some weight. This is what usually leads to the somewhat risky and unhealthy "yo-yo" weight gain and loss process that occurs frequently.

It is actually quite easy to eat a well-balanced diet and still lose plenty of weight. It just takes a simple acceptance of some basic facts. The first thing is that depriving the body of any nutrients will never lead to permanent weight loss. It is only the development of healthy habits which will allow a dieter to lose weight and to keep that weight off for good.

Secondly, there are no miracle cures or magic diets that allow anyone to eat whatever they want and watch fat or pounds just melt away. Instead, it takes some effort to develop healthy cooking and eating habits, and this can be made much easier through the use of healthy diet recipes.

diet recipe

What's the difference between a normal recipe and something labeled as a diet recipe? Generally, a diet recipe is going to try to use fewer fats, sugars, and nutritionally valueless foods. For instance, if a standard salad recipe calls for a lot of sodium and sugar to be added to the dressing, the healthier diet version of this recipe might replace the salt with herbs or lemon juice and the sugar with honey or stevia.

Something many modern dieters find challenging is the need to cook at all because of time limitations in their daily schedule. That is just fine, because there are ample resources for quick diet recipes too. These are not going to be salads or quick cook recipes that don't offer a lot of variation, but will instead present someone with the opportunity to eat as healthily as possible while enjoying reduced preparation and cooking times. For instance, these types of recipes will still use all of the standard "diet" ingredients, but instead of a casserole with a long baking time or a salad requiring all kinds of chopping and slicing, the quick recipes might insist on the use of the microwave to cook hot foods and on a food processor to shred and slice fruits or vegetables in no time at all.

Health and Fitness - Will a Personal Trainer Help You?

Posted by Health Wizard Wednesday, December 17, 2014 0 comments

that extra

If you feel you need a personal trainer to start a fitness routine and help you keep going, go right ahead! There are many things a fitness trainer can do for you, all of which will help you achieve your health and fitness goals.

First, a personal trainer will monitor your measurements and statistics. This may include your BMI and body fat levels. They will also ask you about your physical condition or injuries you may have suffered in the past. Be honest -- the more information you give your trainer, the better for both of you.

The next step for your trainer is to create a fitness plan tailored to your specific goals. Your fitness coach should come up with a special plan that's made just for you, and not a generic template of exercise routines. Whether you're training for competitive sports, if you're building more muscle, or simply trying to burn off that extra fat, your fitness plan should have your goals in mind.

Your trainer can also teach you the right way to do the exercises to avoid injury and maximize results. These trainers will even stay with you throughout the course to see whether you are doing things right or not. Make sure you listen to everything your trainer says -- when it comes to proper form and execution, there's no point in trying to reinvent the wheel!

In addition, your trainer will keep you motivated by egging you on, and giving you tips. If you don't work out side by side with your coach, they will ask you to log in a periodical report to make you stick to the program and answer any questions you may have.

Heal Depression With Qi Gong

Posted by Health Wizard Tuesday, December 9, 2014 0 comments

thought patterns

When our energy is physically low, it can make us more prone to depressive thoughts.

Similarly, having depressive thoughts can stagnate the physical energy and create fatigue.

The art of qi gong or chi kung movement allows us to address both the physical and mental aspects of depression in a healthy way.

The gentle motions are ideal to perform when one is tired as they do not overtax the energy of the muscles but instead gently create a subtle circulation that infuses the body and brain with energy.

Therefore, chi kung can be a wonderful tool to awaken the motivation to exercise and embrace other healthy habits such as proper diet and meditation, tools for healing depression.

Often times, people do not realize they have fallen into depressive patterns until they start performing qi gong and realize the change and shift that comes when they engage in qi gong regularly.

Depressive patterns may include:

Low appetite or fixations on certain types of foods (e.g. self medicating with sweets or other comfort foods).

Low energy.

Aches and pains.

Irregularities with the bowels.

Weakness.

Negative and/or irrational thought patterns.

Generalizing statements. Instead of saying, "I am having a challenging moment," the perception becomes generalized: "My whole day is awful."

Sad thoughts that are pervasive.

impact depression

Suicidal thoughts.

Belief that some things are hopeless.

Limiting thoughts--believing that things are destined to be a certain negative way.

Qi gong, with its emphasis on deep breath work and mindfulness allows one to create new patterns of thoughts by redirecting the mind from negative thought patterns.

Healthy Eating and Exercise For a Sexy Post Pregnancy Body

Posted by Health Wizard Thursday, November 27, 2014 0 comments

after giving

Pregnancy marks the beginning of a new chapter for being a woman. As our baby grows in our tummy the more we feel hungry and eat a lot and gain excess weight during pregnancy and after giving birth and that's what we are concern about, OUR BODY getting bigger.

Mostly woman are having a hard time bringing back their sexy body after pregnancy but they don't know that losing weight to be sexy after pregnancy is easy with determination. Basically, you need to eat the right foods and do some exercise but doing this needs to be carefully administered especially when you have just given birth and breastfeeding. You don't want to go back to your doctor because of the stitches, or bleeding, or even having an unhealthy baby.

Diet after birth is a no-no, you need to have foods that have protein, iron and folic acid for your baby's development and growth and for your health, too 'cause you are still recovering. Stay away from the fast foods, these foods have lots of calories and do some exercises like walking. The best thing to do especially for the first few months while your baby is still sleeping while you are pushing her stroller through out the park, some abdominal crunches to help firm up the post pregnancy belly and kegel exercise to firm up the pelvic muscles and always make sure to drink lots of water.

If you have lots of self-discipline, you can of course just put together a few exercises that you can do at home. Some woman after giving birth wait for six months before doing exercises to bring the sexiness of the body or much better to ask your doctor before starting any exercises to be sure but if you feel that your body is already ready well go for it girl but when you feel pain, or stressed out or even bleeding stop the exercise. There is no harm on stopping for a few weeks or even months. You are not alone in this, mostly woman gain weight after.

Health and Fitness Club Classes Offer Opportunities For Women

Posted by Health Wizard Wednesday, November 26, 2014 0 comments

classes that

There are many health and fitness clubs that offer special opportunities for their female clients. Most of the gyms and health clubs have classes that are co-ed, and they are also offering more individualized programs that target specific exercises for women.

Women need to learn stretching techniques that can be used to keep their bodies flexible, and these methods are sometimes different from the types of exercises available for men. The female body is often far more flexible than a man's and, unless they keep the joints trained and moving, they will lose this ability over the years.

Some of the co-ed classes that are offered at a health and fitness club include spinning, stepping, Pilates, yoga, cardio, and weight training. Women are the dominant members of the stepping, Pilates, and yoga classes in almost every health and fitness club. The weight training classes generally have few, if any, women participants.

There are a couple of reasons that women tend to steer away from weight training. Women tend to believe that weight training and body building are synonymous and, therefore, they do not want to bulk up their bodies and look like male body builders.

health fitness

Women may not know that much about weights and weight lifting techniques and many are reluctant to ask anyone for information. The barbells and heavy apparatus are still viewed as a man's domain by many.

However, health and fitness clubs are now helping women rethink their ideas about weight training. It has been scientifically proven that working with weights will increase bone density in women. Strong bones and toned bodies are what women will gain from participating in weight training classes.

Health Alert - Importance of Drinking Water

Posted by Health Wizard Thursday, November 13, 2014 0 comments

urban centers

Drinking water can be purified, in many different ways. Natural spring water which is really just rainwater filtered and "purified" through ground water. People demand more from their household water. Many of the different products used to purified in the home can be thought of as ways to remove the typical impurities found in tap water. Tap water has been in Western world's homes since the 19th century. Beginning in urban centers tap liquid was a huge improvement over existing wells, considering many cities of the 19th century were located on old pre-industrial sites often near significant bodies of liquid.

Considering the 19th century's rapid industrialization and population growth, water quickly became polluted and in areas near saltwater the rapid draw down of well water lowered water tables and saltwater encroached. The advent of reservoir systems and piping started naturally enough with the higher social classes and quickly cascaded down to the working classes, drastically improved access. The new systems of water delivery by pipes, aqueducts and reservoirs substantially increased the quantity of liquid to the urban centers. Not to be underestimated and yet significant, is the increased qualitative improvements in water.19th century Where once people relied on muddy and brackish water; now they had fresh clean water, often piped from areas with low population density and ready sources of liquid. This new running water or tap water, was arguably one of the defining moments in human history. With guarantee access to water cities could grow, labor could diversify and wealth could be created.

Healing Dysfunctional Childhood Family Patterns

Posted by Health Wizard Tuesday, November 11, 2014 0 comments

Dysfunctional Childhood

People in families usually have patterns of behaving. In our families, we develop routines and rituals and we react to similar things in similar ways each time. For example, it could be that children are expected to get up by themselves for school, make their own breakfast, pack their lunches and walk to school or get the bus while their parents are getting ready to go to work. Or it could be that, whenever the family sits down to eat, the father is the one to talk about his day and, if one of the kids tries to talk, he is shushed or told not to be so selfish and to listen to his father. Or maybe, when a child comes home from school, Mom is there to welcome her with a snack, listening to whatever happened that day.

Each of these habitual patterns of behavior create feelings and beliefs in children. In the first family, maybe one child will feel "everything is up to me; I can't expect anyone to be there for me or help me." Another child might feel free to create her own routine and feel "my parents trust me to do this; they don't limit me." In the second family, one child might become afraid of the father while another becomes angry that he is not allowed to express himself. In the third, one child might feel taken care of and listened to while another feels intruded upon.

Whatever the reaction, it is created by a combination of the parents'/siblings'/relatives' habitual behaviors and the child's interpretation of these behaviors and the beliefs that the child develops as a result of these interpretations. Most parents don't deal with children in consistently positive ways. Many parents actually cause pain in their children and in some families, there is emotional abuse, physical abuse or sexual abuse.

affected area

As a nurse, I've often come in contact with patients who were suffering from eczema, from mild to severe, looking for a cure. Now first of all, eczema and dermatitis are usually referring to the same condition and there are three types of eczema. If you're suffering from eczema you'll find health professionals are quick to prescribe or recommend expensive drugs or chemical products when natural treatments for eczema such as using virgin coconut oil is the best choice. With coconut oil there is no exposure to drugs and chemical-laden products.

Eczema is a dermatitis that is in advanced stages that can be more serious. To apply the virgin coconut oil, massage it deep into the affected area. In adults, eczema is usually found on the inner elbow or behind the knee, but can be found anywhere.

Contact dermatitis can occur in the presence jewelry, perfumes, nickel in jewelry or glasses or bra hooks, chemicals in any cosmetics, shellac in most mascaras, lipstick, lotions, soaps, fabric softener sheets, pesticides from contact around the mouth, latex gloves, tomatoes, and the list goes on.

When you start treating your eczema externally with coconut oil, make sure you're also working on eliminating the cause of your eczema, whether it's internal or external. Coconut oil works so much better than eczema creams, which are usually expensive eczema products that are laden with chemicals, whether it's used for babies, teens or adults.

Virgin coconut oil is inexpensive and a good, cheap home remedy you can use for many skin problems. If you also have acne, coconut oil is an excellent treatment for acne too and is better than any chemical acne products. Besides the coconut oil treatment you can expose the affected area to direct sunlight for 20 minutes or so every day if you have access to sunlight and also get your daily dose of vitamin D that way too.

Health and Fitness Classes That Work

classes that designed

Improving mind, health and body is the stated aim of many health and fitness classes that are offered today. Many clubs and gyms are offering a variety of exercise and fitness classes that are designed for both men and women.

Some of the classes are traditional such as yoga, while others are offering new exercise ideas and methods to the public.

Women have become the most enthusiastic members at many of the fitness classes, and there are many classes that are designed to encourage their participation. You may notice many exercise classes that offer aerobics or yoga, and the great majority of the participants are women. These classes encourage women to become more active and offer them great gains in their overall level of health. In fact, yoga classes are attracting more males now but their following remains overwhelmingly female.

These particular exercises do not push ideas like muscle, strength and bulk, but do encourage and support stretching, balance and flexibility. These are traits that women seem to naturally value and they are usually quite successful in performing the exercises and stretching techniques.

health fitness

Males tend to gravitate toward the heavier forms of exercise such as weight training and body building. You will often see them sweating over heavy barbells and working with machines with large weights attached.

Weight training is being offered in more of the health and fitness classes today and these classes are capable of improving the health of both men and women. Many of the fitness classes are finding ways to incorporate some type of mild weight training in with aerobic classes to introduce the activity to more women.

Health and Fitness: A Huge Industry in Need of Writers

Posted by Health Wizard Friday, October 17, 2014 0 comments

direct marketing

Think about how much you read about and spend on health and fitness.

Do you ever exercise? Take supplements? Go on a diet? Visit the doctor sometimes? Most of us do all four. And how many books, magazines, tapes of videos related to health and fitness do you have in your home?

This is a colossal industry, and seems to be growing bigger all the time. This is particularly true right now, as the baby boomers grow older and are looking for ways to maintain and improve their health.

Whether the subject is exercise, weight loss, prescription drugs or alternative remedies, there is a massive demand not only for products and services - but also for articles and promotional copy to promote those services.

Just do a few searches on Google.

A search for the word "health" yields 615,000,000 results.

"Fitness" yields 90,400,000 results

That's over 700 million web pages that have been written about health and fitness. It's a phenomenal figure.

And each and every one of those pages had to be written by someone.

Now think of all the magazines that focus on health and fitness. The books. The videos. And all that advertising and direct mail.

yields results

Do you get the idea? Here is an industry that is constantly in need of writers.

Whether your interest is in writing articles or in writing direct marketing copy, you can be sure of finding work.

Your next step is to find the right niche. Which area in health and fitness best suits your interests and experience? What would you like to write about?

And do you want to write articles, or are you more of a sales person...and better suited to direct marketing copywriting?

Health Affiliate Programs - The Best Option For Affiliate Marketers

Posted by Health Wizard Wednesday, October 8, 2014 0 comments

affiliate programs

Health affiliate programs are amongst some of the best options for affiliate marketers to find a specific niche product. Many marketers do not even look closely at health affiliate programs, and this is a mistake. Instead, they tend to gravitate towards products that are being promoted by super affiliates.

Unfortunately, choosing the wrong types of programs and products can spell an end to your short career in internet marketing. Any good marketer knows that new searches are conducted every day on the internet, so the keywords which were relevant a week ago may not be the same today.

It is important to choose products that fill a need. You also need to know who you are marketing to. If you are trying to promote wrinkle cream from health affiliate programs, then your target audience is not teen girls. It is common sense, but many marketers make the mistake of not speaking to their target audience. Even worse, they decide that they need to add a bunch of other affiliate programs, with banners and other distractions to their website. There is no faster way to drive off a potential customer than having a "busy" website.

Good affiliate marketers choose niches that are not over saturated. Some of the best products can be found in health affiliate programs. These affiliate network programs provide specific products that are directed towards a unique health issue. If you can research that issue and provide really good content and information about it, you are much more likely to attract natural, targeted traffic, the kind that other people pay for.

pain head

Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening (AIS) treats migraine, cluster, tension, or chronic headaches as a muscular disorder. The source of headache pain is excessive muscular tension in the upper body, neck, and jaw muscles. Muscular tightness or weakness in these areas will refer pain into the head region. Night time teeth grinding can also play a role in causing pain in the head. Migraine treatment involves lengthening and rebuilding the numerous muscles that uphold the head. Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) has the best treatment plan for reducing inflammation in muscles that cause chronic pain in the head region.

AIS therapy is an alternative to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (nsaid's) and analgesic drugs. In the book Heal Joint Pain Naturally by Ellen Hodgson Brown, research found that "nsaid's and analgesic pain- relievers impede the body's ability to repair itself (page 20)." Nsaid's and analgesic drugs promote a cycle of dependence with detrimental consequences to the kidneys and gastrointestinal tract. Pain relieving drugs reduce inflammation temporarily as the solution to migraine, cluster, or tension head pain, without addressing the source of the pain. Active Isolated Stretching reduces inflammation by lengthening each tight muscle that is contributing to head pain. The long term solution to head pain involves rehabilitation to the muscles that support the head.

The textbook Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction written by Janet Travell, M.D. pioneered the concept of referred pain problems. This concept is also called trigger point theory. Dr. Travell discusses how inflexibility or trauma in specific muscles will cause pain to corresponding regions of the body. Dr. Travell's trigger point theory illuminated the finding that the area where pain is felt and the source of pain can be two separate regions.

Health and Fitness Centres - The New Place to Be Seen

Posted by Health Wizard Tuesday, September 30, 2014 0 comments

Health fitness

Health and fitness centres are great places to meet friends, make new friends or simply enjoy a work out by yourself. The centers can be anything from your local YMCA to a formal fitness club to an activity center, such as a senior center, that offers exercise or aerobic programs or even competitive sporting events. Most centre's are membership driven and provide the necessary structure some of us need to keep a fitness plan on track.

Health and fitness centers provide its members with professional or certified trainers that will assist members in setting up an exercise program to meet the desired goals, no matter what level of fitness you are at. Whether it is weight loss or weight maintenance, increasing strength or stamina or just plain old staying active, a health and fitness centre will provide all the know how needed.

Being a member of a health and fitness centre provides its members access to a variety of equipment that might otherwise be cost prohibitive for the average person to purchase. While there are a lot of ways to stay in shape without the benefit of equipment such as gardening, yard maintenance, chopping wood or even painting a house, some folks like the idea of using a rowing machine or running on a treadmill to complete their exercise program. If members live in a climate that has winter, a fitness centre provides the environment for regular workouts.

fitness centre provides

An added benefit to being a member of a Health and fitness centre is to be in the company of others with the same general goal and perhaps working with a professional trainer is just the motivation one needs to keep that goal in sight. It becomes members helping members achieve their fitness goals. And a lot us could use help doing that.

Health and Fitness - Weight Loss Planning and Motivation

Posted by Health Wizard Monday, September 8, 2014 0 comments

fast food

A rather large problem that people face when trying to lose weight and get healthy is that they just don't stick with what they are trying to do. They get distracted, discouraged, or are just plain lazy. They say they're going to eat healthy, yet they get fast food 5 times a week. They try to hit the gym often, but only end up there two or three times in a month. Planning and motivation is a big reason this, and here are a few tips to get you on track and keep you going the distance:

- Set several goals for yourself spanning over different lengths of time. Make these goals attainable, and set goals for a month, six months, and a year.

- Make a habit of exercising at the same time every day. Once you get used to going to the gym/running/swimming at the same time every day then eventually it will become a part of your regular routine.

- When it comes to eating healthy, only buy healthy items at the grocery store (and maybe one or two treats) and limit yourself to eating fast food to maybe once or twice in a week. This will force you to eat what you have purchased, and therefore you will only be eating healthy foods.

same time

- Avoid temptation. If you end up at a restaurant, order some lean chicken with rice and veggies instead of the cheeseburger and fries. Also, order a water instead of soft drinks.

- Don't burn out with a routine that is far too aggressive. If you plan on eating plain white chicken breasts 3 times a day, and you don't even like chicken then you might have a problem. Make sure to eat foods that you like, but that are also healthy at the same time.

Health Affiliate Programs - The Top 3 Networks Reviewed

Posted by Health Wizard Wednesday, August 27, 2014 0 comments

They also

Have you been searching for that elusive affiliate program with great conversions and huge commissions? It might be time to give health affiliate programs a try. While there are various wellness related affiliate programs, the best are the ones for which you can market actual physical products, rather than an instructional e-book or online diet. As with any marketing opportunity, selling physical products results in much higher conversions over digital products. Lets review the top three money makers when it comes to health affiliate programs.

1) - Worldniche.com

I consider this the number one choice for health affiliate programs because they offer more tools and support than any other network out there. One of their best features is the free website designing that they offer their affiliates. They also have other tools such as articles, conversion tracking, feeder sites, banners, and even a member's forum where you can gain insight from other affiliates.

One thing about Worldniche that could use some improvement though is their beginners support. If you have never been involved in internet marketing or affiliate programs, you may quickly become lost because their entire site is set up for those with at least some previous experience. While they do offer a beginners guide, it is not very comprehensive. They also do not offer PayPal payments for their affiliates, which means it takes a little longer to receive your commission payments.

2) - SellHealth.com

Sellhealth.com comes in at number two because their commissions are second highest in the health affiliate industry. You can make up to several hundred per sale promoting their sexual wellness, beauty, and healthy skin products. They also offer feeder sites, articles, and other tools as well. They will even give you free website design like Worldniche does, except that Sellhealth requires that you make three sales in a 30 day period first.

Headaches Are Ruining My Life

Posted by Health Wizard Thursday, August 21, 2014 0 comments

neck pain

Do you ever get headaches? If you answered yes, you likely understand how much headaches can ruin your livelihood. Some people are lucky enough to rarely get headaches and others are plagued by migraines and chronic neck pain every day of their lives. There are numerous types of common headaches people regularly experience. This objective of this article is to help educate others what type of headache they may be experiencing.

Tension headaches are by far the most common type Americans experience. This can be attributed to our busy lifestyles, our chronically poor posture and forward head posture. If you add in chronic dehydration and stress it's no surprise this is the whopper of neck pain and aches involving the head. Did you know 75% of headaches are tension style aches. Many people describe a tension headache as stabbing, dull pain with throbbing pain and sometimes tension behind the eyes. Stabbing pain is also listed when the condition is not treated. Neck pain is often involved and goes hand in hand with tension aches.

The duration for a tension headache can vary from 30 minutes to days. Most often an hour is the life. Trigger points are often found surrounding the head, neck, shoulders and chest. Also, atlas angle deficiency can contribute to chronic pain.

Migraine headaches are classically described as pounding, intense, severe pain often coupled with light sensitivity. They are often experienced with nausea as well. These migraine headaches can last from as little as a few hours to as long as a few days. Many of those who suffer from migraine headaches experience visual symptoms called an "aura" just prior to an attack. Migraines are debilitating and have been found to be linked to depression. Getting the proper diagnosis is a crucial step in battling your aching head.

allow relax

Headaches have got to be hands down one of the most frustrating, irritating, and aggravating things to go through. Almost everyone has them, and almost no one knows how to get rid of them. A big part of this is that headaches are almost always a symptom of a more complex underlying problem, which can be difficult to diagnose and treat. Because of this, it is extremely difficult (but possible) to permanently heal your headaches. Here are a few incredibly simple ways to quickly get rid of your headaches:

How to Heal Your Headache Quickly in 3 Ways...

1. Turn down the light - especially if your headaches are more serious migraines, it is extremely likely that they are light sensitive. This simply means that bright lights make your headaches worse, like when you have a hangover. While this may seem simple, turning down the lights will prevent your headache from getting worse. It will also allow you to relax a little bit and prevent a tension headache from forming. Even if your headaches are not light sensitive it will at least allow you to relax a little bit and concentrate on something else.

allow relax

2. Switch to decaf - even if you only have a small amount of caffeine daily your body can become chemically depended on it. This simply means that your body will expect the same amount of caffeine at the same time or you will experience withdrawal symptoms. This type of headache, commonly called a caffeine headache is almost impossible to correct, and if the headache is a caffeine headache the only way to heal it is to have more caffeine. Obviously, if you stop drinking caffeine your body will no longer be addicted to it. However, you will have to suffer through two or three days of these headaches before you are rid of them for good.

Posted by Health Wizard Thursday, August 7, 2014 0 comments

natural cures acid reflux

Did you know that when you always eat large, greasy meals and pair them with fatty desserts, you could actually get gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or acid reflux? Yes, you could! You see, this happens when the esophagus is repeatedly assaulted by stomach acids and partially undigested foods which have escaped your lower esophageal sphincter or LES. The LES is supposed to keep the food in your stomach, but when it can't, you may feel a burning sensation which can stretch from your chest area up to your throat. This is often called heartburn, but repeated heartburn may already be acid reflux.

The most effective natural cures for acid reflux are simply focused on treating your LES and your whole esophagus. Leaving it untreated may cause the cells in your esophagus to erode. The erosion will not only cause acid reflux but cancer too. Since no one wants to get GERD neither cancer, it is important to know how to treat the condition as early as possible.

Now, the first step included in the natural cures for acid reflux is by eating small meals and snacks every day. It may be as many as five or six as long as you keep the amounts in moderation. When you eat this way, you reduce the pressure on your stomach and LES.

Secondly, you must take in more complex carbohydrates and less fat. Fats are the culprits of slow digestion and they cause the LES to relax which in turn allows acid to enter the esophagus.

The third on the list of natural cures for acid reflux is eliminating the common trigger foods which increase acid production. Pass on carbonated beverages, alcohol, tea, coffee, garlic, orange juice, and hot spices for the time being. They irritate the lining of your stomach and weaken your LES. You must also avoid milk. This may come as a surprise because generally, milk helps in relieving burning pains in your tummy, right? But it actually has the capacity to produce a rebound effect. In the end, you may be encouraging increased acid production in your stomach. This contradicts the fast healing of your esophagus.

Health and Fitness - Where Do I Start? At the Beginning of Course!

Posted by Health Wizard Wednesday, July 30, 2014 0 comments

that need

Health and fitness starts with a conscious choice, and the best place to start is...well, at the beginning!

In our aging society physical fitness is playing a major role in keeping people healthy. There are numerous fitness programs that are available to people. The main thing to consider with any program is to have a balance between nutrition and exercise.

Each physical fitness program claims to be the best. Not all programs are right for everyone. You do need to check with your physician to see which fitness program is best for you and your goals. Each person should develop goals that they want to achieve and review them with their physician. Keep your goals in mind as you are joining a fitness program.

Getting involved in a fitness routine does not mean that you need to spend money by joining a gym or purchasing equipment. There are many pieces of equipment that will improve your physical well being, but you can also achieve this without making purchases. Some people do find that purchasing equipment or fitness tapes are a way to motivate them to start using muscles that may need extra conditioning or to get started exercising. A variety of activities help keep you motivated with your quest for getting into shape. A variety of different exercises also help to condition all muscle groups. It is important to start out any exercise routine by stretching. This will help to avoid muscle strain and injury. A physical activity can be as simple as walking around the neighborhood, or biking on your favorite trail. By choosing to walk to do some of your errands or by parking further away from the door you can incorporate exercise into your routine without adding extra time.

prevent your

You will be at your wit's end trying to find a method of healing eczema if your child suffers from this dreaded condition. You would certainly find it very difficult to pacify your child and prevent her from scratching at her sore skin. No parent likes to see their child in such discomfort and your agony is increased by the doctor's seeming inability to cure your child's ailment.

Most conventional treatments for eczema are most inappropriate for an adult, leave alone a child. Most adults I know would be extremely reluctant to undergo a course of corticosteroids, however mild it may be. Parents are also very unwilling to give their children antibiotics or antihistamines over a long duration. Unfortunately, treatment for healing eczema takes a long time because the disease never really gets fully cured.

The safest and surest way of healing eczema in children is to follow natural methods. You can do this for as long as you need without any fear of side effects or long term drug dependency.

You must first prevent your child from scratching her body, although this is easier said than done. You could make your child wear gloves so that she cannot cut her skin with her fingernails. You should massage your child twice a day with any natural oil such as coconut, olive or almond. They are very soothing to the skin and will also be an effective barrier to moisture loss.

Another effective barrier cream you could use is shea butter or cocoa butter. These are very rich emollients and will reduce the dryness of the skin drastically and thereby do away the need to itch.

Healing Eczema - What Are the Best Methods For Healing Eczema?

Posted by Health Wizard Thursday, July 10, 2014 0 comments

Healing Eczema

Eczema, in simple terms, can be described as a leakage of the skin causing the skin to be itchy. The more frequent the itch, the greater the damage to the skin by scratching it and the more damage done, the more severe the cycle becomes.

The skin becomes very dry and tends to be inflamed. When the irritated area is scratched, the eczema rashes begin to appear. The skin begins to weep and even bleed, which creates a more painful eczema experience. Healing the eczema is necessary to be able to then maintain the skin and prevent future outbreaks.

There is no cure for eczema, as doctors say. But they assure that there are treatments available, to give relief to patients and heal damaged skin

Instant relief from dry, itchy and inflamed skin can be achieved by moisturizing and more importantly a moisturizer which is compatible with the skin and does not cause further itching. Moisturizing twice daily is recommended for skin regeneration.

Diet is also a very important feature in the future of eczema where some foods can cause mild to severe allergies in the body which manifest as eczema on the skin. You may not realise that you are mildly allergic to certain foods which are, in turn, causing eczema symptoms.

Initially, when eczema develops and the patient is in full blown attack, the doctor will prescribe topical steroid creams in the form of hydrocortisone, eumoveate etc for healing the eczema that has erupted. However, these medications are purely to clear up the skin and not to be used as a preventative measure on an on-going basis.

Heal Eczema With Coconut Oil - The Secret Revealed

Posted by Health Wizard Tuesday, June 24, 2014 0 comments

eczema include

Eczema is a commonly used medical term for extra dry or inflamed skin. When treating eczema one should always consider natural treatment first if you want to take the best care of your skin. Applying alternative, natural eczema treatment methods to get the best cure or results is sometimes essential to cure eczema problems. Although it's not common knowledge, coconut oil, a natural treatment method, has been used for eczema for many years.

Types of eczema include atopic, dyshidrotic and nummular eczema. Once the skin is exposed to a trigger, it releases chemicals that go directly to the surface of the skin, which then causes a patient to itch. I use coconut oil for everything including as a make-up remover and under my foundation. My skin is always soft, silky, smooth, and free of eczema, rashes, bumps, blemishes, blisters, etc.

The best treatment I've found to heal eczema is organic virgin coconut oil. Always get permission from your doctor before you apply any alternative treatments. To apply virgin coconut oil, massage it deep into the affected area. Depending on how severe the eczema is, it can be applied three or four times a day or more and at bedtime too. The more serious types of eczema include nummular, discoid, dyshidrotic and Varicose Eczema, which is a condition that is found in the lower leg. Make sure to consult with your doctor first on these conditions.

If you also have acne, coconut oil will treat most types of acne too and is better than most chemical acne products. Patients with eczema usually have skin that is very sensitive to certain substances including soap, wool, detergents, make-up, cosmetics, mascara, lipstick, nail polish, shampoos, etc. For an attack of eczema to exist, two conditions have to be present - a predisposition or special irritability of the skin, and a directly exciting cause. The type of eczema you have depends on the cause and where it occurs on your body.

Headache From Fumes? You Need A Breath Of Fresh Air

Posted by Health Wizard Friday, June 20, 2014 0 comments

your appliances

Fumes are a way of life. They can also cause headaches. With the amount of air pollution nowadays - it is amazing that we don't all walk around with a permanent headache!

Just think for a moment about what is in the air we breathe. In the outdoors, cars are producing fumes. Factories are belching out fumes, soot, ash and many chemicals. Garbage is burned - releasing fumes. Chemicals are sprayed on our crops. Asphalt is rolled out - releasing fumes. Welding gives off fumes.

Indoors, the list is even longer.

Just take a look at this list for common fumes that we inhale regularly in our own homes:

Tobacco smoke

Perfume

Oven fumes

Insect sprays

Cleaning products

Paint

Flowers

The smell of a new car

The smell of a new carpet

Solvents:

Turpentine

Thinners

Acetone (found in nail polish remover)

All of these fumes and odors can trigger headaches.

Why do fumes give me a headache? It is the irritation caused by the fumes that gives you problems. The fumes can contain irritants or toxins which irritate the delicate lining of your nose, throat and chest.

The blood vessels in the nose react to the irritation by enlarging and pressing on nerves, which gives you the headache.

Bad smells can be good for you

Unpleasant odors can be a warning signal that this substance is not going to do you any good. Think of rotten meat and sour milk.

The headache associated with fumes is also a warning sign. It is your body's way of telling you that it doesn't like this substance and to get away from it as quickly as possible.

Healing Diets Alleviate Autism Symptoms

Posted by Health Wizard Wednesday, June 11, 2014 0 comments

Carbohydrate Diet

Your monthly autism support group is helpful. Sometimes, a mom sitting next to you is busy jotting down a shopping list. You notice some interesting items: coconut flour, rice noodles, gluten-free cereal and quite a few organic fruits and vegetables. Immediately you realize that this mom must follow a special autism diet for their child. You may wonder if these diets really do benefit children with autism.

You may have done little research on diet, as you have been very focused on behavioral therapy. What are the facts supporting autism diets? You may begin to wonder if your child can benefit.

Diet is an important part of intervention for autism. According to leading autism organizations, autism pediatricians, nutritionists and parents around the globe, autism diets provide measurable results in helping reduce children's symptoms of autism.

There are many diets that autism nutrition specialists, physicians and parents are applying with great results. They are the Gluten-Free Casein-Free (GFCF) Diet, Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD), Gut and Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Diet, Low Oxalate Diet, Body Ecology Diet, Feingold Diet and the Weston A. Price Diet-each with their own individual healing properties.

Autism diets are recommended and applied with the help of nutrition consultants based on a child's autism symptoms, food allergies and sensitivities, digestive capacity, family history, bio-individuality, and a number of other criteria.

According to parents polled by Autism Research Institute (ARI), after mercury/heavy metal chelation, autism diet is the most effective intervention for children on the autistic spectrum - more that any drug, nutrient or other biomedical therapy. One simple healing principle holds true today: thousands of children are finding relief from symptoms of autism as parents correctly and diligently apply autism diet. Autism is treatable and diet helps.

Headache treatment

Most headaches are caused by muscle spasms in the back of the head and neck. The spasm can be sparked by emotional stress or by holding the head in a fixed position for long hours. At times the pain can be extremely severe and feels as if the head is in a vise-like band.

Relaxing tight muscles through massage, hot showers and heating pads or cold packs, including biofeedback and muscle-relaxation training may prove to be helpful.

While some people find relief with non-traditional techniques, like acupuncture, hypnosis or meditation, non-prescription pain relievers often help with occasional headache. In very severe cases, prescription analgesics like aspirin and acetaminophen may also do the trick.

However, prescription analgesics are not always useful because they tend to lose their effectiveness, encourage dependency, and cause "rebound" headaches when the effect of the starts to wear off. On the other hand, tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline or Imipramine could prove to be a less addictive and often more effective alternative; these medications affect the pain pathways in the brain. Nonetheless, these drugs must be used for several weeks before they can take effect. Since much lower doses are needed for pain, there are generally few or no side effects.

Drugs that help constrict blood vessels may also relieve pain if taken at the first sign of the headache.

What are the different types of headaches?

There are several types of headaches; almost 150 diagnostic headache categories have been established! However, the most frequently reported ones include:

Grains and the Gluten Free Diet

Posted by Health Wizard Monday, May 19, 2014 0 comments

gluten allergy

Grain, or cereal, referrers to cultivated members of the grass family used as food.

Grains are staple foods throughout much of the world.

Because different types of grain do better according to the climate and other factors, different cultures use different grains as staples, for entirely practical reasons.

In the third world, many people subsist on grains, especially rice, wheat and maize. In developed countries where incomes are much higher,our consumption of grains appears to be lower. In fact, grain consumption is much higher than we realize due to a high consumption of meat. These animals are generally fed grain, especially corn.

Grains generally lack lysine, and essential amino acid. Vegetarians must complement grains with legumes such as lentils, beans and peanuts to supply this amino acid. Legumes lack methionine, an essential amino acid supplied by grains. Rice and dal, corn with beans and peanut butter sandwiches are common combinations of legumes and grains in various cultures.

Here is a list of common cereals from throughout the world:

* Wheat *

* Barley *

* Rye *

* Oats *

* Spelt *

* Einkorn *

* Emmer *

* Durum *

* Rice

* Maize (Corn in North America)

* Sorghum

* Millet

* Triticale (wheat - rye hybrid)

* Fonio

* Teff

* Wild Rice

* Note that grains marked with an asterisk are gluten-containing grains. Avoid if you have a gluten allergy or are celiac. Other grains contain glutens, but they are significantly different and do not affect people with celiac disease or those allergic to the gluten in wheat, barley, rye and oats. Even the gluten in oats is considered to be different enough from wheat gluten to be safe for celiacs, although this point is debatable.
