Healthy Eating and Dieting

diet recipes

If there is one thing that upsets nutritionists, physicians, and health experts about dieting it is the fact that many people actually stop their normal and healthy eating habits in order to drop some weight. This is what usually leads to the somewhat risky and unhealthy "yo-yo" weight gain and loss process that occurs frequently.

It is actually quite easy to eat a well-balanced diet and still lose plenty of weight. It just takes a simple acceptance of some basic facts. The first thing is that depriving the body of any nutrients will never lead to permanent weight loss. It is only the development of healthy habits which will allow a dieter to lose weight and to keep that weight off for good.

Secondly, there are no miracle cures or magic diets that allow anyone to eat whatever they want and watch fat or pounds just melt away. Instead, it takes some effort to develop healthy cooking and eating habits, and this can be made much easier through the use of healthy diet recipes.

diet recipe

What's the difference between a normal recipe and something labeled as a diet recipe? Generally, a diet recipe is going to try to use fewer fats, sugars, and nutritionally valueless foods. For instance, if a standard salad recipe calls for a lot of sodium and sugar to be added to the dressing, the healthier diet version of this recipe might replace the salt with herbs or lemon juice and the sugar with honey or stevia.

Something many modern dieters find challenging is the need to cook at all because of time limitations in their daily schedule. That is just fine, because there are ample resources for quick diet recipes too. These are not going to be salads or quick cook recipes that don't offer a lot of variation, but will instead present someone with the opportunity to eat as healthily as possible while enjoying reduced preparation and cooking times. For instance, these types of recipes will still use all of the standard "diet" ingredients, but instead of a casserole with a long baking time or a salad requiring all kinds of chopping and slicing, the quick recipes might insist on the use of the microwave to cook hot foods and on a food processor to shred and slice fruits or vegetables in no time at all.

Health and Fitness - Will a Personal Trainer Help You?

Posted by Health Wizard Wednesday, December 17, 2014 0 comments

that extra

If you feel you need a personal trainer to start a fitness routine and help you keep going, go right ahead! There are many things a fitness trainer can do for you, all of which will help you achieve your health and fitness goals.

First, a personal trainer will monitor your measurements and statistics. This may include your BMI and body fat levels. They will also ask you about your physical condition or injuries you may have suffered in the past. Be honest -- the more information you give your trainer, the better for both of you.

The next step for your trainer is to create a fitness plan tailored to your specific goals. Your fitness coach should come up with a special plan that's made just for you, and not a generic template of exercise routines. Whether you're training for competitive sports, if you're building more muscle, or simply trying to burn off that extra fat, your fitness plan should have your goals in mind.

Your trainer can also teach you the right way to do the exercises to avoid injury and maximize results. These trainers will even stay with you throughout the course to see whether you are doing things right or not. Make sure you listen to everything your trainer says -- when it comes to proper form and execution, there's no point in trying to reinvent the wheel!

In addition, your trainer will keep you motivated by egging you on, and giving you tips. If you don't work out side by side with your coach, they will ask you to log in a periodical report to make you stick to the program and answer any questions you may have.

Heal Depression With Qi Gong

thought patterns

When our energy is physically low, it can make us more prone to depressive thoughts.

Similarly, having depressive thoughts can stagnate the physical energy and create fatigue.

The art of qi gong or chi kung movement allows us to address both the physical and mental aspects of depression in a healthy way.

The gentle motions are ideal to perform when one is tired as they do not overtax the energy of the muscles but instead gently create a subtle circulation that infuses the body and brain with energy.

Therefore, chi kung can be a wonderful tool to awaken the motivation to exercise and embrace other healthy habits such as proper diet and meditation, tools for healing depression.

Often times, people do not realize they have fallen into depressive patterns until they start performing qi gong and realize the change and shift that comes when they engage in qi gong regularly.

Depressive patterns may include:

Low appetite or fixations on certain types of foods (e.g. self medicating with sweets or other comfort foods).

Low energy.

Aches and pains.

Irregularities with the bowels.

Weakness.

Negative and/or irrational thought patterns.

Generalizing statements. Instead of saying, "I am having a challenging moment," the perception becomes generalized: "My whole day is awful."

Sad thoughts that are pervasive.

impact depression

Suicidal thoughts.

Belief that some things are hopeless.

Limiting thoughts--believing that things are destined to be a certain negative way.

Qi gong, with its emphasis on deep breath work and mindfulness allows one to create new patterns of thoughts by redirecting the mind from negative thought patterns.

after giving

Pregnancy marks the beginning of a new chapter for being a woman. As our baby grows in our tummy the more we feel hungry and eat a lot and gain excess weight during pregnancy and after giving birth and that's what we are concern about, OUR BODY getting bigger.

Mostly woman are having a hard time bringing back their sexy body after pregnancy but they don't know that losing weight to be sexy after pregnancy is easy with determination. Basically, you need to eat the right foods and do some exercise but doing this needs to be carefully administered especially when you have just given birth and breastfeeding. You don't want to go back to your doctor because of the stitches, or bleeding, or even having an unhealthy baby.

Diet after birth is a no-no, you need to have foods that have protein, iron and folic acid for your baby's development and growth and for your health, too 'cause you are still recovering. Stay away from the fast foods, these foods have lots of calories and do some exercises like walking. The best thing to do especially for the first few months while your baby is still sleeping while you are pushing her stroller through out the park, some abdominal crunches to help firm up the post pregnancy belly and kegel exercise to firm up the pelvic muscles and always make sure to drink lots of water.

If you have lots of self-discipline, you can of course just put together a few exercises that you can do at home. Some woman after giving birth wait for six months before doing exercises to bring the sexiness of the body or much better to ask your doctor before starting any exercises to be sure but if you feel that your body is already ready well go for it girl but when you feel pain, or stressed out or even bleeding stop the exercise. There is no harm on stopping for a few weeks or even months. You are not alone in this, mostly woman gain weight after.

Health and Fitness Club Classes Offer Opportunities For Women

Posted by Health Wizard Wednesday, November 26, 2014 0 comments

classes that

There are many health and fitness clubs that offer special opportunities for their female clients. Most of the gyms and health clubs have classes that are co-ed, and they are also offering more individualized programs that target specific exercises for women.

Women need to learn stretching techniques that can be used to keep their bodies flexible, and these methods are sometimes different from the types of exercises available for men. The female body is often far more flexible than a man's and, unless they keep the joints trained and moving, they will lose this ability over the years.

Some of the co-ed classes that are offered at a health and fitness club include spinning, stepping, Pilates, yoga, cardio, and weight training. Women are the dominant members of the stepping, Pilates, and yoga classes in almost every health and fitness club. The weight training classes generally have few, if any, women participants.

There are a couple of reasons that women tend to steer away from weight training. Women tend to believe that weight training and body building are synonymous and, therefore, they do not want to bulk up their bodies and look like male body builders.

health fitness

Women may not know that much about weights and weight lifting techniques and many are reluctant to ask anyone for information. The barbells and heavy apparatus are still viewed as a man's domain by many.

However, health and fitness clubs are now helping women rethink their ideas about weight training. It has been scientifically proven that working with weights will increase bone density in women. Strong bones and toned bodies are what women will gain from participating in weight training classes.

Health Alert - Importance of Drinking Water

Posted by Health Wizard Thursday, November 13, 2014 0 comments

urban centers

Drinking water can be purified, in many different ways. Natural spring water which is really just rainwater filtered and "purified" through ground water. People demand more from their household water. Many of the different products used to purified in the home can be thought of as ways to remove the typical impurities found in tap water. Tap water has been in Western world's homes since the 19th century. Beginning in urban centers tap liquid was a huge improvement over existing wells, considering many cities of the 19th century were located on old pre-industrial sites often near significant bodies of liquid.

Considering the 19th century's rapid industrialization and population growth, water quickly became polluted and in areas near saltwater the rapid draw down of well water lowered water tables and saltwater encroached. The advent of reservoir systems and piping started naturally enough with the higher social classes and quickly cascaded down to the working classes, drastically improved access. The new systems of water delivery by pipes, aqueducts and reservoirs substantially increased the quantity of liquid to the urban centers. Not to be underestimated and yet significant, is the increased qualitative improvements in water.19th century Where once people relied on muddy and brackish water; now they had fresh clean water, often piped from areas with low population density and ready sources of liquid. This new running water or tap water, was arguably one of the defining moments in human history. With guarantee access to water cities could grow, labor could diversify and wealth could be created.

Healing Dysfunctional Childhood Family Patterns

Posted by Health Wizard Tuesday, November 11, 2014 0 comments

Dysfunctional Childhood

People in families usually have patterns of behaving. In our families, we develop routines and rituals and we react to similar things in similar ways each time. For example, it could be that children are expected to get up by themselves for school, make their own breakfast, pack their lunches and walk to school or get the bus while their parents are getting ready to go to work. Or it could be that, whenever the family sits down to eat, the father is the one to talk about his day and, if one of the kids tries to talk, he is shushed or told not to be so selfish and to listen to his father. Or maybe, when a child comes home from school, Mom is there to welcome her with a snack, listening to whatever happened that day.

Each of these habitual patterns of behavior create feelings and beliefs in children. In the first family, maybe one child will feel "everything is up to me; I can't expect anyone to be there for me or help me." Another child might feel free to create her own routine and feel "my parents trust me to do this; they don't limit me." In the second family, one child might become afraid of the father while another becomes angry that he is not allowed to express himself. In the third, one child might feel taken care of and listened to while another feels intruded upon.

Whatever the reaction, it is created by a combination of the parents'/siblings'/relatives' habitual behaviors and the child's interpretation of these behaviors and the beliefs that the child develops as a result of these interpretations. Most parents don't deal with children in consistently positive ways. Many parents actually cause pain in their children and in some families, there is emotional abuse, physical abuse or sexual abuse.
