If you've read any of the recent reports about the dangers of inflammation you may be worried.

Doctors now agree that inflammation is the leading cause of disease and many people suffer from whole body inflammation.

You may be one of them.

It's a nutrition deficiency that causes much of this inflammation and can be easily corrected. More on that in a minute. First, let's look at why chronic inflammation is a problem for your health.

Inflammation Can be Deadly

The problem with chronic inflammation is that your brain is sending out little armies of white blood cells to "fix" areas that are ok. These cells destroy tissue - even healthy tissue - in their efforts to heal an area where they perceive a problem.

This overzealous effort can lead to heart attacks, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer's Disease and many other chronic conditions.

To learn if you're experiencing too much inflammation in your body, you can have your doctor perform a simple test called a C-reactive protein test. This tests the levels of inflammation in your body and is common for arthritis or lupus patients.

A Solution to Whole Body Inflammation

One solution to chronic body inflammation is fish oil pills. These supplements are loaded with necessary Omega 3 fatty acids which control inflammation.

have plenty Omega

A 2008 study from Baylor University and Harvard Medical School found that patients who took fish oil supplements reduced inflammation in their body this boosted their immune systems.

Here's how it works. Omega 3 fatty acids are missing from most Western diets. If you eat a typical American diet with a lot of processed foods, you probably have plenty of Omega 6 fatty acids--also necessary--but not enough Omega 3's.

You can get more Omega 3's by eating more salmon, hoki, tuna, sardines and other fatty fish. You can also eat more walnuts and olive oil. Nutritionists recommend eating 2-3 servings of fish a week.

I take fish oil supplements because it's simple and I don't always have time to cook.

A study by the Harvard School of Public Health discovered that diets deficient in Omega 3's led to an estimated 63,00 to 97,000 preventable deaths a year--just in the U.S.

Cardiologists recommend fish oil supplements to their patients to prevent heart disease and repeat heart attacks. Studies have found you must have plenty of Omega 3 fatty acids 600-1200 mg a day to stay healthy.
